Zoho Powers Solopreneurs in South Africa with Launch of Zoho Solo

Global software powerhouse Zoho Corporation has doubled down on its South African presence, announcing a remarkable 35% year-on-year revenue growth and a 67% surge in upmarket adoptionthroughout 2024. This milestone was revealed at the annual Zoholics South Africa user conference, further cementing Zoho’s commitment to the country’s expanding digital economy.

The growth comes hand-in-hand with the launch of Zoho Solo, a mobile-first application built specifically for South Africa’s vibrant solopreneur and freelancer ecosystem. With over 1,000 early adopters onboard, Zoho Solo addresses a critical gap in the market—empowering entrepreneurs to manage clients, track income, invoice professionally, and handle expenses seamlessly, all from their mobile device.

“South Africa is a strategic market for Zoho. Our investment in local talent, partners, and custom-built solutions reflects our belief in its future,” said Hyther Nizam, President of Zoho MEA. “Through our transnational localism strategy, we’re fusing global capabilities with local needs to support digital empowerment at every level of business.”

A Smart Companion for the ‘Business of One’

Built to support freelancers, consultants, creatives, and one-person businesses, Zoho Solo stands out for its simplicity and power. Users can track billable hours, send customised invoices, manage tasks, and even log tax-deductible mileage—critical for professionals constantly on the move.

“South Africa’s entrepreneurial energy is unmatched. Zoho Solo is our answer to their call for smart, easy-to-use tools that reflect how they really work,” shared Andrew Bourne, Zoho’s Regional Manager for Southern Africa.

Unique features like real-time financial dashboards and offline functionality make Solo a reliable tool even in areas with limited connectivity. The app is priced in ZAR, protecting users from exchange rate shocks and reinforcing Zoho’s local-first approach.

Commitment to Privacy and Community

True to Zoho’s privacy-first principles, Solo collects no user data for advertising or AI model training—even in its free plan. All user data is stored securely in Zoho’s own data centres, ensuring complete control over security and compliance.

Beyond product innovation, Zoho is investing in people. In 2024, it expanded its South African workforce by 30%, added 38% more local partners, and deepened its community initiatives—including collaborations with BabesGotBytesand CodeTelligence to nurture the next generation of digital professionals.
