Spotify Wrapped Dinner Party: A night of fun, music and celebration

The launch of Spotify Wrapped was marked with a glamorous night of dining, dancing, and laughter. The Wrapped Dinner Party brought fans, artists, media, and industry insiders together to celebrate the music that made 2024 special.

Upon arrival, guests could easily capture their stunning outfits in a Wrapped-themed photo booth. A combination of neo-soul and R&B music set a relaxing mood as welcoming drinks flowed and friends reconnected in the intimate venue.

Once Moozlie got on the mic, the night officially started, and guests got seated and ready to be blown away by a locally inspired menu made special by explosive performances by South African artists and DJs.

Local dishes for a spectacular dinner

The Constitutional Hill precinct played host to a divine dinner. Tables were filled with plates, glasses, and a curated menu of mouthwatering starters. These included pickled beef tongue served with pineapple achaar and a smooth mass curd and amagwinya (fat cakes). The main course was served up family style with guests passing plates and choosing from Cape Malay-style pickled yellowtail fish, a sorghum millet risotto, and Florentine steak served with fondant sweet potatoes and a baby gem salad.

Insights from Spotify Wrapped data celebrated fans and the artists they showed love for in 2024, such as Mawhoo’s song ‘Ukwamukela’ making it on over 12,000 playlists, and that popular rapper Maglera Doe Boy was streamed over 2 million times in Cape Town.

The night’s emcee – rapper and TV personality Moozlie – used her infectious and upbeat energy to amp up the crowd and get them in the right mood for the night’s performances.

Electric performances

The dynamic force that is Kamo Worldwide lit up the stage with his crew of angelic cowboy dancers as the first act of the night. They donned striking white outfits as they brought hits like ‘Touched By Me’ and ‘Shake(A)’ to life with their ballroom and kwaito-inspired dance routines. Following him, the young DJ Ggoldie played a fresh set of Amapiano tunes that kept the crowd’s energy pumping.

Nkosazana Daughter closed out the evening with her strong vocal performance, elevated by her dazzling dance crew. She had the crowd singing along word-for-word as she performed some of her biggest hits such as ‘Dali Nguwe’ and ‘Keneilwe’.

Night of joy and excitement

The Spotify Wrapped Dinner Party not only celebrated the achievements of 2024 but also acknowledged the people who made Wrapped special: the fans. The event exemplified why Spotify Wrapped is such a culturally significant moment that brings music fans together for one more celebration of the songs that made 2024 a memorable year in music.
