Durban July is more than a race day—it’s a celebration of culture, music, fashion and the people who shape South Africa’s creative landscape. This year, D’USSÉ brought that spirit to life with D’USSÉ Takes Durban July, a roadtrip experience alongside one of Amapiano’s leading figures, Oscar Mbo.
Setting off from Johannesburg in the early hours of Friday morning, the journey transformed the road to Durban into an experience of its own. Travelling in a convoy of D’USSÉ-branded Mercedes-Benz vehicles, the roadtrip blended luxury travel, authentic South African moments and the anticipation of one of the country’s biggest lifestyle weekends.
The first stop saw the convoy pull into Harrismith, where supporters had the opportunity to meet Oscar Mbo before the journey continued to Little Switzerland. Surrounded by the scenic landscapes of KwaZulu-Natal, guests enjoyed brunch, good music and a relaxed outdoor atmosphere as the roadtrip paused before heading south.
The experience then took a reflective turn with a visit to the Nelson Mandela Capture Site in Howick. The landmark, which marks a pivotal moment in South Africa’s history, offered an opportunity to pause and appreciate the country’s heritage before the celebrations of Durban July began. Against the backdrop of the iconic sculpture, music and culture met history in a uniquely South African moment.
As night fell, the convoy arrived in Durban, where the energy shifted from the open road to the city’s vibrant nightlife. The celebrations continued at The B.A.H. Sky Lounge, where Oscar Mbo delivered a standout performance as guests gathered to celebrate D’USSÉ, music and Durban July weekend.
Throughout the experience, D’USSÉ partnered with aware.org to reinforce the importance of responsible alcohol consumption through the #NO campaign, encouraging guests to celebrate responsibly while enjoying the weekend’s festivities.
More than a roadtrip, D’USSÉ Takes Durban July with Oscar Mbo showcased the journey behind the destination—bringing together premium lifestyle, Amapiano culture, South African heritage and unforgettable moments on the road to one of the country’s most iconic events.
