Anticipation is always high when rumors circulate that YoungstaCPT will be releasing a new project. Over the years, YoungstaCPT has grown into a cult figure, known for telling authentic stories and spreading messages of hope through his music. Often overlooked, his presence in Hip-Hop, however, cannot be ignored.

His latest offering to the world of Hip-Hop comes in the form of his 34th project, titled 32 Y?ears Ahead of Time. This is the second part of his trilogy mixtape series, with the first being 31 Y?ears Ahead of Time, which was released on August 16, 2024, and featured songs such as “SLIM YOUNG” and “Minieta.”

32 Y?ears Ahead of Time showcases the sounds and rap cadences that YoungstaCPT’s fans have come to love over the years, while still remaining true to his storytelling roots, as seen on the opening track of the mixtape, “A Ballad For Shaakie.” On this track, YoungstaCPT shares his fears of survivor’s guilt and reflects on the struggles of everyday Coloured South Africans. It’s a sober moment for YoungstaCPT, who turns to religion as a safe haven.

Speaking about the release of 32 Y?ears Ahead of Time, YoungstaCPT says, “It feels good that these songs are finally getting released to an audience. The tracks were supposed to be part of one project, so splitting them up was a bit challenging, but I found a way to spread them and create different moods. ‘32’ has more of a mid-tempo feel, but it does come with a few high-energy bangers.”

The project features guest verses from Bravo Le Roux and TDV, both of whom YoungstaCPT has worked with before. J-Star appears on two songs on the mixtape: “Hardloop” and “Thug On.” YoungstaCPT is especially excited about the producers who contributed to the well-rounded project. “I’ve worked with a few first-time producers like Zino D and Eudy. We’ve had these songs in the vault for a while, so it’s nice to see them released. Fonzo is someone I’ve known for a while – he’s not only a dope rapper but also a very talented producer. Jay Em and I have worked together before, but this is our first collaboration in the hip-hop space. And J-Beatz – people are most familiar with our work together. His ability to always find my fit is clear when you hear the final product,” he shares.

In 32 Y?ears Ahead of Time, YoungstaCPT not only continues to solidify his place as one of South Africa’s most authentic and prolific voices in Hip-Hop but also demonstrates his ability to evolve while staying true to his roots. With its diverse range of sounds, thoughtful storytelling. The mixtape stands as a testament to his enduring relevance and creative versatility. As fans and newcomers alike digest this latest project, it’s clear that YoungstaCPT’s influence on the culture and music scene will continue to resonate for years to come.
