DOJA CAT TO HEADLINE GLOBAL CITIZEN’S MOVE AFRIKA 2026 TOUR IN RWANDA AND SOUTH AFRICA
Doja Cat is set to headline the third edition of Move Afrika, the pioneering pan-African touring circuit led by Global Citizen. The 2026 tour will take place in Kigali, Rwanda, and Pretoria, South Africa, this March, continuing its mission to scale Africa’s creative economy while campaigning for stronger healthcare systems across the continent.
Now entering its third year, Move Afrika is positioning itself as the first structured pan-African music touring circuit — designed not only for cultural impact, but for measurable economic growth.
Tour Dates and Venues
The tour will begin with Move Afrika: Kigali at the BK Arena on March 17, before heading to Move Afrika: Pretoriaat the SunBet Arena on March 20.
Kigali returns as a host city in partnership with the Rwanda Development Board, while South Africa joins the 2026 expansion as the circuit continues to grow its continental footprint.
A Touring Model Built for Economic Impact
Move Afrika is more than a concert series. Since inception, the initiative has created over 2,500 jobs across Kigali and Lagos, with more than 90% of crew and production roles filled by local talent.
In Kigali alone, local crew representation increased from 75% in 2023 to 90% in 2025, with 95% of audio and lighting equipment sourced locally. Youth development programs expanded into rigging, hospitality, and security training — including paid placements through the Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator.
Similarly, Move Afrika: Lagos utilized 90% local crew and 95% locally sourced equipment, awarding contracts across technical production, staging, and event design.
The 2026 edition is expected to deepen these employment pipelines while expanding its youth accelerator framework across host cities.
Healthcare Advocacy Through Culture
Alongside job creation, Move Afrika 2026 builds on Global Citizen’s ongoing advocacy for stronger healthcare systems across Africa. The campaign will call on governments to:
- Strengthen primary healthcare infrastructure
- Invest in sexual and reproductive health and rights
- Improve public health resilience
- Reduce financial barriers to healthcare access
Additional details on how fans can earn limited free tickets by taking action with Global Citizen will be announced in the coming weeks.
Strategic Partnerships and Industry Expansion
Move Afrika 2026 is delivered in partnership with pgLang, Big Concerts, Major Tour Partner Cisco, and the Rwanda Development Board.
The tour also coincides with new research from the Music Economy Development Initiative (MEDI), launched in collaboration with Global Citizen, Universal Music Group and IFC. The research aims to drive music policy reform and position music financing as a core lever for sustainable growth in Africa’s creative economy.
As Global Citizen Co-Founder & CEO Hugh Evans noted, Move Afrika is redefining global touring by placing Africa’s creative excellence at the center of the international circuit — strengthening local industries while attracting world-class talent.
Africa at the Center of the Global Stage
Previous Move Afrika editions have been headlined by artists including Kendrick Lamar and John Legend, while Global Citizen’s broader African events have featured global icons such as Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Usher.
With Doja Cat at the helm for 2026, Move Afrika continues to evolve from a cultural moment into an institutional touring framework — one that drives employment, scales infrastructure, and positions Africa as a permanent pillar of the global live entertainment economy.
Tickets for Move Afrika: Kigali are available at moveafrika.org, while Pretoria ticket sales will roll out via Mastercard presales, Big Concerts Fan Club access, and general public sales through Ticketmaster South Africa.
Move Afrika is no longer emerging — it is establishing a new touring standard for the continent.
