Visual Artists of Gauteng: It’s Your Time
Crispy Skateboards is throwing down the challenge: a week-long art competition for the real ones who move with hustle, style, and creativity.
Starting midnight, Sunday April 27, 2025, and running till midnight, Thursday May 1, 2025, you’ll have just under 5 days to create your best original piece—your materials, your style, no rules, no limits. Just raw expression.
This isn’t just a contest. It’s a callout. Show up. Be seen. Connect.
Who’s Crispy?
We’re about real stories, local artists, and real culture. Every project we touch is a platform for the streets to speak—through paint, ink, collage, whatever you call your weapon. You bring the soul; we bring the canvas.
The Prizes
At the end of the week, three winners will be chosen:
- One by the Crispy Skateboards crew
- One by Origin Art Gallery
- One voted by the public
Each winner gets a blank Crispy skateboard deck to turn into their next masterpiece—and set their own price when it goes up for sale. Your art, your value.
The Big Reveal
The finished boards debut on May 8 at the “Not an Afterparty” at Democracy Bar, Illovo—a night packed with punk bands, graffiti, skate ramps, and the people who actually live this life. After that, your work will live through May at the Motion and Expression exhibition at Origin Art Gallery, Keyes Art Mile, Rosebank.
