RÉMY MARTIN: TWO CITIES. ONE SPIRIT. EMBRACES CULTURE FROM DURBAN TO LOS ANGELES WITH ASVNTE AND QUE DJ

From World Cognac Day to Durban July, Rémy Martin’s Two Cities. One Spirit. brought together music, culture, fashion and connection through a weekend that moved from intimate dinners to the heart of Durban’s nightlife.

What began on World Cognac Day reached its defining moment over the Durban July weekend.

Through Two Cities. One Spirit., Rémy Martin created a cultural journey connecting Durban and Los Angeles through music, creativity and shared energy — brought to life by two distinct cultural voices, Asvnte and Que DJ.

Rather than existing as a single event or moment, the campaign unfolded across a series of experiences that brought people together through music, fashion, nightlife, hospitality and conversation.

World Cognac Day ignited the story. The Two Cities Tour carried it forward. Durban July became the defining chapter.

And across the weekend, Rémy Martin demonstrated what happens when different cultural influences meet through a shared spirit.

Two Cities. One Spirit. Comes to Durban

Throughout the Durban July weekend, Rémy Martin activated across some of Durban’s most influential cultural spaces, creating a series of experiences that connected the worlds of music, fashion, nightlife and celebration.

At the centre of the campaign were Asvnte and Que DJ, two cultural translators whose respective sounds helped express the relationship between Durban and Los Angeles.

Their presence gave the campaign a musical identity while reinforcing its wider cultural message: different cities, different influences, one shared energy.

From intimate hospitality and creator experiences to music-led celebrations and elevated lifestyle moments, every activation formed part of a larger story that had been building since World Cognac Day.

The Weekend Begins at The Room

The journey began on Thursday at The Room, where Rémy Martin welcomed guests to an intimate dinner in honour of Asvnte.

The evening established the tone for what would become a weekend defined by premium hospitality, meaningful conversation and shared experiences.

Away from the scale and spectacle of Durban July, the dinner offered a more intimate expression of the Rémy Martin world — bringing together friends of the brand, cultural tastemakers and guests in an environment centred around connection and conviviality.

It was the first chapter of the weekend, setting the spirit in motion.

When Hip-Hop Meets Gqom at Brown Sugar

On Friday, the Two Cities. One Spirit. story moved into Durban’s music culture at Brown Sugar.

Asvnte and Que DJ came together on stage, bringing Hip-Hop and Gqom into the same space and giving the campaign its most energetic musical expression yet.

The performance represented the essence of the Two Cities concept: different sounds and cultural influences meeting without losing their individual identity.

Durban’s energy was unmistakable.

Music became the language through which the campaign’s central idea was experienced — not simply communicated.

Rémy Martin Meets Durban July

Saturday brought the campaign to one of South Africa’s defining lifestyle moments: the Hollywoodbets Durban July.

Inside the Opulence Marquee, Rémy Martin welcomed guests into an elevated expression of the Maison’s hospitality, with the day bringing together fashion, craftsmanship, culture and celebration.

Durban July provided the perfect cultural stage for Two Cities. One Spirit.

The event has long represented a convergence of South African fashion, music, entertainment and social culture, and Rémy Martin’s presence added another layer to the weekend’s wider cultural conversation.

From premium brand integration to the people shaping the city’s creative landscape, the Opulence Marquee became a key meeting point for the campaign.

But the story did not end when the races did.

From the Races to Envy

As Saturday transitioned from day into night, the energy continued at Envy.

The atmosphere shifted from elevated daytime hospitality to the movement and intensity of Durban nightlife, with music once again becoming the connective thread.

The transition captured another dimension of Two Cities. One Spirit. — the ability of culture to move seamlessly between different environments while maintaining the same underlying energy.

For Rémy Martin, the evening extended the campaign beyond the formal Durban July experience and into the city’s nightlife ecosystem.

A Slower Sunday on the Water

Sunday offered a change of pace.

Guests joined Asvnte and Que DJ aboard an exclusive Rémy Martin yacht experience along the Durban coastline, creating a more intimate chapter within the campaign.

Against the backdrop of the ocean, the focus shifted towards craftsmanship, connection and shared moments.

The experience offered a softer expression of the Rémy Martin spirit — luxurious without feeling overly formal, and centred on the relationships created throughout the weekend.

After days of music, fashion and nightlife, the yacht experience created space to slow down and take in the journey.

Returning to the Roots in KwaMashu

The final chapter of Two Cities. One Spirit. returned the campaign to culture at Mkhize’s Rooftop in KwaMashu.

And the location carried significance beyond being the final stop.

KwaMashu is deeply connected to the story of Gqom, while also being home to Que DJ. Bringing the campaign into this environment created a natural connection between the global ambition of Two Cities. One Spirit. and the local cultural roots that helped inspire it.

Partners, media and cultural tastemakers gathered for a final moment of conviviality overlooking the city.

It was an ending that felt deliberately circular.

The campaign began by connecting Durban to Los Angeles. It ended by returning to the communities, sounds and cultural identities that make Durban such an influential creative city.

One Spirit, Different Influences

At its heart, Two Cities. One Spirit. was never designed to be a single night.

It was a cultural journey.

Across World Cognac Day, the Two Cities Tour and the Durban July weekend, Rémy Martin created a narrative that moved through different spaces, sounds and experiences while remaining anchored in one central idea: connection through a shared spirit.

The campaign also reflected the philosophy behind Rémy Martin VSOP — bringing together different influences to create a harmonious expression.

As Amaury Vinclet, Rémy Martin General Manager, explains:

“We are proud to launch ‘Two Cities. One Spirit.’, an initiative that perfectly embodies the spirit of Rémy Martin VSOP. This unique collaboration between Durban and Los Angeles, driven by talents like Asvnte and Que DJ, is an ode to creativity and cultural connection, values dear to Rémy Martin and resonating with the balance of our eaux-de-vie.”

For Asvnte and Que DJ, the campaign became a meeting point between different musical worlds.

For Durban, it became another celebration of the city’s ability to influence global culture.

And for Rémy Martin, it became an expression of what happens when craftsmanship, culture and people come together.

Two Cities. One Spirit.

Different influences.

One shared energy.

A journey from Durban to Los Angeles — and back to the culture that started it all.
